Rudder Post removal of thru-hull piece?

"new" 1976 boat" has a broken nylon thru-hull connection, so it has to be replaced. I want to get bronze one out of 1975 hull. Anyone have any suggestions of best way to remove without damaging?

My boat came with the thru hull fitting laying inside. It is a very simple set-up. Remove the hose inside the coffin that connects the upper and lower fittings (should be stainless steel hose clamps on each end) and use a pair of large channel locks to unscrew the hex nut. It's probably sealed in with something so some pressure to break it free may be needed.

My issue is I can get a grip on the part sticking below hull. When turning the nut whole piece just turns in place. The nylon one was cracked, but came out easily once i removed much of the sealant/glue from around plastic nut.
I'm thinking of notching at the inside top with a file and then with a special tool i can hold to screw of bronze nut?

Plumbing guys protect the threads of soft pipe with several tight wraps of a cloth around the threaded part, then use a pipe wrench to hold that part still while unthreading the nut.
If you try that you want to be sure you don't put so much pressure on with the pipe wrench that you deform the thru hull..or cause the cloth to slip.
Go easy and if it works, great - and if it doesn't you still didn't hurt the part..
