if a bit un-needed...if you fall backwards off the cabin and land on your lower right back against the edge of the cockpit seats it hurts. A lot. For 5 days..so far.

Everyone watch the ice this winter, I had a thin dusting on the project boats tarp, wasn't paying attention/didn't see it and went for a tumble.

Just sore now, but could have been worse !!

Apparently "One hand for you and one hand for the boat" holds true even on the hard.

Yeow! Just got my 12-week check on my L5-S1 fusion (good to go) so you're note is a good reminder to all! Serious damage is one accident away. Take a little extra time and remain safety concious!

Thanks all, looks like I mostly got the oblique muscle groups to the right and above of that L-S area when I 'landed'...but have xrays and stuff to come after the swelling and soreness is gone..got a real cool racing stripe back there now, lol...


Main lesson is think before you step up on something like the cabin top, that's quite a step up from the cockpit on a C26 anyway..

Glad to hear you're walking around. Hope the X-rays come out OK for you. Sounds like this may have happened on Friday the 13th. It was a bad day for Captains.

Glad you didn't find yourself listed under the worse category. It's embarrassing to admit but I'm sure most of us have a tumble story of our own. My first one came as soon as I got my project home, eager to get below to see where to start... I omitted the two seconds needed to confirm that the steps were still secured.

Glad to hear you are walking and take care of it before serious sailing season hits. We had a post a while ago about look up and in the winter I guess it is a good Idea to look down in the winter. Speedy recovery to you.

Hope that the xrays turn out AOK...it is so easy to become complacent about work...take it from another who knows.

Yes I too am glad, that you can recover. I have lost a lot of frends do to falls. A lot of ( what iffs ) come to mind, What if you fall off the boat, being in dry dock. The only thing worse than the fall is the sudden stop. Please be more carfull
