My forward hatch looks like it used to have a rubber U channel around it as a seal. Anyone know a size or part number or source?

Did the pop top have a seal as well? What about the aft lockers, were there seals around them? Mine creak and move when you step on them, makes me think there should be some sort of seal.

Regular window seal stripping should work fine that's what I used on my forward hatch, 1/2" as I recall.

Here is an old photo of the old seal on my forward hatch as it outlines the edge. I could be wrong but is there a need for it to fit over the edge of the hatch lip?

My seal is just like Terrence's...I think that it seals against the raised molded cabin top opening. I am going to try a material called Armaflex...it is a closed cell foam rubber used as insulation on HVAC ductwork. I got it as a scrap from an insulator at work.
You might check with a heating and cooling contractor for some scrap pieces.

Ok, I thought there was residue from something being glued around the lip of the hatch, but it cleaned off and was just mold/mildew. I can see where some sort of foam was glued inside the lip as in your pictures. From inside with the hatch screwed down, there is a small somewhat even gap around the raised lip, will see what I can find to seal it.

I don't think tha majority of the forward hatches really needs a seal or gasket. Water should never run uphill and over the deck molding under any normal conditions I am aware of. None of my boats have ever had a fordeck hatch seal and water (at least from there) just hasn't been an issue. My current boat, a C-26 lives on a mooring so it's seen it's share of stormy, wet weather and the forward berth is always dry.

In my neck of the woods the seal helps keep the Box Elder Beetles out
