boom vang

i have a c22 do i need a boom vang and if i do where do i get one or how do i make one (boats not in the water yet and first mate is b.... about money)i made new cushions for the boat it was fairly easy , working on the motor a suzuki 9.9 im in pa for the summer and the boat is in fl. i hope to have it in the water in early sept.

It's not a requirement to have a vang, but it helps to control the boom off the wind in heavier air or bouncy seas. I am planning to install a boomkicker and an 4:1 vang and a single cascade for a 8:1 total purchase. I have seen the 4:1 premade vangs on ebay for about $100. You still need a bail on the boom to attach it if there isn't one as well as an attachment ring on the base of the mast.
