Late as usual, but with all the project talk I thought we could use some sailing talk.

We had a wonderful weekend aboard Copacetic. Some friends joined us Saturday and we went out even though there wasn't much wind. With the 150 hanked on we were making 1.5 to 3 knots. Still, the lake was flat, the sun was shining and it was a gorgeous day to be out.

Sunday our guests had to leave but with bit more wind, around 10 knots we went out again with the 150. We were doing 5 to 6 knots with no troubles at all. The lake was still pretty flat and were just cruising along. Occasional spray off the bow sparkled like diamonds in the sun. Finally, as it was getting late and the wind was picking up, we headed in. If we were staying out it would have time to put the 110 on.

When we got in wind was blowing us away from our dock at around 15. I made a failed attempt (I really need to work on my motor steering project) and as I was coming around for another try our marina neighbors came over to help. With their assistance we made it, otherwise it would have been strike two.

Days like this are why we sail!

Sounds like a nice weekend. The first mate and I took the 22 out for a sunset cruise one evening last week. Hardly any air moving so we motored for a while then drifted for a while. When we came back in to the marina our dock neighbor was on his boat, so we stuck around for a while and caught up over a couple of beers. It was a very nice evening. Hope to get out for a while this weekend. Been doing a little work on the new O'day, but Not going to kill myself on it. Not if the wind is up and I already have a fine boat in the water.
