Plasteak

Took a drive over to the plasteak plant near Akron today. I've been thinking about replacing the hatch slides with a combo handrail made from plasteak. The folks there were very nice and gave me a bunch of scraps to practice on! I'll post pics of the end result. I started with removing the wood rail, enlarged the screw holes and filled them up with epoxy. The epoxy really soaked in, where it went , who knows! I'll be imbedding threaded inserts and switching to machine screws in lieu of wood screws..that should end any water infiltration.

Sounds like a good plan.

Looking forward to the photos... please include measurements and dimensions for those of us mathematically deprived. Oh... and don't think for one minute that I would steal you idea... I'm just curious.

And while Terrance is being curious, I don't mind plagerizing.

I have been considering using Nuteak for the cockpit in my boat.
