My dad is on the right, Jules Lipski center and Dan Dante, somewhere up in Alaska, 44 or 45. I met both men and their families in the late 50's and my dad corresponded with them up into the late 60's. My dad wrote a letter to someone every day for as long as I can remember and two of his buddy's wrote to mom even after his death.

Truely a Band of Brothers!
Once you entrust your life to a person, and they to you, a bond is forged that is hard to explain. I have a few friends made during my time in the military that will remain through the rest of our lives. I am closer to them than I've been to anyone other than my First Mate.
It IS a unique relationship.

I can't take credit for this but it's worth repeating.
It is the VETERAN,
Not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the VETERAN,
not the reporter who have given us freedom of the press.
It is the VETERAN,
not the poet who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the VETERAN,
not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble.
It is the VETERAN,
Not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the VETERAN,
not the politician, who has given us the right to vote.
It is the VETERAN,
