The Winch on my C26 trailer is shot and I need another one. What size do I need? 2000, 3000 LBS or more?

I have a 3000# on my C22 and that seems to be enough, but I would tink that something in the 4000# range should be sufficient...

Maybe someone with a 26 will chime in with some insight!!

Might find a bit of helpful info on the original winch here:

Whoa, back up. I misread the thread. Trailer winch, I was reading keel winch. Disregard.

C26 weighs at least 5500 from the specs..think big.

John my trailer is a EZ LOAD with rollers. I replaced my winch last March because I lost the winch handle and the winch was all rusted up and the cable had a few broken strains. I replace it with a Fulton model T3205 with 3200 lbs 1 layer and 1450 lbs full drum from Eastern Marine. It is the same winch that was on the trailer.

I did the same thing last year, I had a cable snap and said no more! and switched to a belt. (we were lucky no one got hurt) I purchased a new Dutton Lainson DL1402A Standard Ratchet Hand Winch ($39.30) which is the OEM brand, the holes lined up perfectly and then I got a Hand Winch Strap with Safety Hook, 2" Wide x 25' Long - 4,000 lbs. ($15.94). I purchased both on line from two different vendors. the prices are with shipping! not a bad deal. If you do a web search and compare prices you will find some good deals.
