Tribute To A Sailor

I found this to be a beautiful eulogy to a sailor known more other reasons than sailing.

Hey John I must have just missed ya last spring!
I did an Iron Butt run from Everett Wa to Missoula and back in 24hrs or less! There is a BBQ place there off I90 where we stopped with 26 bikes and had a late lunch!
I was the guy in leather on the Harley!
You should have come out and said hello! LOL!
my ride was 1063 miles in 18 hours!
If you run the math you find I ran an average of 60 miles an hour! That included gas stops, potty breaks, FOOD, etc etc! LOL! top speeds hit 110 mph! Cruised at 95 for hours! Yes, tickets were passed out! Not to me though! heh heh!
FYI: I have an outstanding offer for any Chrysler forum member to come visit and come sail with me! Destiny or Lady Jo! Billy and Pam have been aboard Destiny, Alan has actually gone sailing with me a couple of times!
Maybe you can visit for the boat show?

Seems there were several WYNTJE's over the years from what I can Google. A Westsail 42, a custom Sunward, a Camper and Nicholson 60, and a 64' Hinckley.
Have ran across a few humorous tales as well, I'll leave you guys to drift across those on your own...

Nice memorial. I remember the last week he was doing the news and I seem to recall a reference from him to doing more sailing when he retired. I also remember an interview or a special done on Walter when he was still alive. They filmed him sailing and he always looked comfortable doing the news but you could see he was really at home at the wheel of his sail boat.
Never met him but it sure seems like we knew him, all those years on TV.

I was aware Walter was a sailer.
He did write a book "Around America" that I would love to read.
It's been on my Christmas list for a couple years now, I may just need to buy it myself.
