A photo log on the refit of Puffin

Post by John Stahl »

I thought I would make a photo log of the work I am doing on Puffin. I thought you may enjoy watching its progress.

http://s1082.photobucket.com/home/fivemoremiles/index

Here are some of my goals.

!. Puffin must be in the water in 2011.
2. Try to increase Puffins resale value----I know I am dreaming

Here is a list of the refits that I need to do.

!. Reinforce the sole under the cabin steps
This is priority one

2. Reinforce the cockpit benches that creek.
Since I will be using fiberglass on the sole it make sense to do this repair at the same time

3. Reinforce the mast step
Again this is fiberglass work and makes sense to do it with the other fiberglass work

4. Replace the lines

Goal to finish the above refits before summer of 2011
Since the cabin will be striped not to go further till we get her in the water and test her for leaks so we will stop there.

Projects for next year

Restore the cabin door.
Lighten up the cabin. It is not a cave.
Refit the galley
Remodel the hatches so they will let more light in, and open easer.
There is no right way to do the wrong thing.

John

Nice photos and it came with a trailer, thats always a good thing. The cross anchors on your door planks looks cool. Someone put a lot of work into that; it would be regrettable to discard them. My first mate would say they give the boat personality. Hopefully on your next round of photos we will get to see some interior shorts. Hope you make your 2011 sail date... the best I can hope for in 2011 with my own c26 project is perhaps a float test. (LOL)
