I really like Practical Sailor...I get it from the library...It is like a Consumer Reports for sailboats...It is quite pricey for a subscription, like $84 a year I think, but it has no advertising. This is good since I think that it makes the ratings on products more believable,
They really do a good job on how they test sail boat products.

I just signed up for a subscription, it was under 20 bucks for the year and I got access to some preveous articles. What got me was the review of lines/running rigging , I'm going to replace mine this year and had a million questions, so all in all I'm satisfied. Thanks for the tip.
Thank you

Thank you to the guys that purchased hats, I still have a few left. The c26 hats are not in yet, I will post pics as soon as available. I did make a few bucks in profit and purchased what looks like a part of the Boat manuals, however I'm not sure that it has the right trailers for the sailboats. I did not get a chance to study it yet, just got it today at work and scanned it in to .PDF. You can grab the docs via the attached link.

Happy thanksgiving!
Ps. I think I have a solution to the link expiring in seven days thing, I have been fooling around with dropbox and may upload there. If anyone wants to load these and the others on to their website let us know.
ps. Does anyone update the Chrysler sailing association web site? If you found the download useful let me know, I'll keep looking for "stuff"

Wait a minute,
I'm confused.
Did I hear Alan mention the word sailing and the word profit in the same paragraph?
I'm at a loss . .. .. .

Back on the old Chrysler yahoo group someone had come up with the design spec and found a company to make C22 burgees and asked who all wanted to order one. I guess there was a minimum order quantity and nothing ever came of that? I would still be interested in ordering one of those too.

Here is a link to a similar thread ( maybe same one ) here.
Unfortuantely nothing ever came of it as far as I know.
http://www.chryslersailors.com/discussi ... ght=burgee
I ended up making my own for CaptainScottSailing.I used the C22 as the sailboat image. Took me quite a while to draw it up. Came out like this:
When you order these things there is typically a minimum of 5 before it becomes cost effective. The folks I delt with did a great job for me. If memory serves it comes out to between 20 and 25 bucks each or so at an order of 5. Add shipping from the person who makes the order and you are looking at 30-35 bucks a burgee.
Other than my bride, my Mom was the most supportive of me when I started CSS. When my first batch of burgees came I opened them and pulled one out. The very first one went to my Mom for supporting me as strongly as she did and believing in my crazy ideas! LOL!
A couple even fly in the Everett Marina on some students boats that I've helped along the way.
Each of my boats get one. They are pretty cool to fly too.
I fully support the idea of a Chrysler burgee and would even consider getting a group oreder together if we could come to a consensus on a design and get at least 5 committed purchases.
If there is not enough interest in the Chrysler burgee, I would sell my burgees here only because there is a Chrysler on them.
Here is how it looks from the boat on Lady Jo my 1975 C22:
DISCLAIMER:
There is no money to be made here by offering my burgee. Advertisement for me is realy a non issue. You CAN NOT even read the lettering from the boat let alone from the dock or shore. Notice the burgee size relative to the proper US Flag size. It is simply a neat thing ( in my opinion ) to fly burgees underway.
I have two new unused ones left and will order more if there is any interest.
If anyone is is offended by the offer my apologee is offered and I welcome EE deleting this post if appropriate.

mariner, PM sent requesting order info for a C-22 hat.
Scott, I am not only "not offended" I want to be considered ONE of your five confirmed orders.
As for design, I think you rendering of a C-22 is perfect. I suggest we make the flags read C22, whatever that is in flag-speak. And if anyone wants lettering (which as you noted can't be read anyway) I would suggest it read Chrysler C-22. Simple and to the point.

In response to the Burgee question, I was the one who got the order logo and quote together, I think the lowest quantity order for the best price was something like twenty (i forget), at that time only one other person than myself wanted one, so I shelved the idea because i could not "fund" the whole order at that time, if there is interest I will go ahead and get some made up, I'll dig up the artwork, quotes and post details.

Update Burgee

from my records (It was 2008) The best quote that I got was from North Sail/flags division. without sales tax and S/H the cost was $50 art set up charge and $18.00 each burgee, min order of 12. If their quote is still good ( I doubt it they probably raised prices, I have asked for a new quote) my guess is that we could get them to everyone who wants one for 30 bucks including the shipping? thoughts? is that to much? if so i'll look at other manufacturers.

That's it! Here's the one mariner came up with:

by TravisJ
Our club orders our burgees from Prestige Flag:
http://www.prestigeflag.com/products/ya ... _yacht.php
I think the last time we ordered it was $18.50 each for 25 flags. I don't know what the original setup fee was. We sell them to club members at events for $20 each. People like to take them down to the Caribbean and leave them hanging in bars, lol.

Just found out that the pricing is still good, now we need 12 sailors to step forth! so far we have 3 "sold" (I'm taking 2) If you agree to the design and would like me to place the order let me know. Thanks

I'll get the info on who made my burgees and forward it to you.
I do not remember a minimum of 12. Seems it was lower on mine.
Also keep in mind that if we go with any lettering then the burgee almost HAS to be a print vs a sewn burgee. The design should take this into consideration as should the price. Mine is clearly a print. They came out very nice and may be why my costs came in with a lesser minimum requirement.
I'll also sign up for a nice C22 burgee. Do you have and can can you post the artwork here? In the previous post I could not access the design through Yahoo without signing up for yahoo. I opted to not sign up and thus never actually saw the design.
If getting the artwork or format online is an issue, email it to me and I'll put it on my website and link to it there. That way we can access it without having to sign up for a service.
Scott.

So, Alan are you in? Should I get these things made up?
Ps. Per my old posts did anyone find the download interesting? Does anyone have anything like that for the c22 trailer?

I'm in for two based on your old design, which is cool 'cause it will match my new hat.
If my count so far is correct that's 6 or more, so we should be about $20.50 each, logo reading right on both sides. Way cool. And, of course, a little something for mariner for his time and trouble and s&h too.

Guys, I have the flag in the works I will let you know when they arrive and the final price attached is the artwork that we are shooting for. Let me know if there are any objections...

By the way, checks in the mail today for the hat we talked about.

The order was initiated this morning, there is still the artwork and proof phase to go through, and final quantity has not yet been determined (12?). I'll keep you posted.
thank you

So did you order reading right from both sides? I didn't think about that. Our logo is just symbols, no letters or numbers, so mirror image isn't an issue:
http://www.lcyc.org
Put me down for one please.
Here's the price they quoted us last time we placed an order, which was this past June:
Quantity/Cost:
6-24 @ $17.50 each
25-49 @ $16.75 each
50-99 @ $16.00 each
100+ @ $15.00 each

I'm assuming you ordered the burgees to read right from both sides. Based upon that, I just put my check in the mail.
1 - C-22 hat ($15) and 2 - C-22 burgees ($20.50 each, $41), total $56. Right?

Don't forget there's a $50 set-up fee that has to be covered and S&H--not only to Mariner's place, but to each of us from Mariner.
