new folder - "How To"

Might I suggest we add a new folder to the Index, one labeled "How To". It could be a repository for detailed threads (without extra comments or posts) where newcomers like myself could find instructions on how to perform seemingly complex tasks; like raising a mast, rewiring a trailer, or replacing swing keel brackets.

At first I felt kind of silly yesterday when I began photo documenting my replacement of the trailer wheel bearings for Cinderella's trailer. I mean, you guys know so much about these things already. Nobody would be interested in that. But then I thought about it and realized that I am probably not the only inexperienced guy on this board, and I definitely won't be the last. So I carried on with it.

If this sounds like a good idea to the "Powers That Be" I will soon have a detailed thread with pics to guide some other newcomer through changing his wheel bearings.

I second the motion.
I thing that is a really good idea, since I too am very inexperienced and love looking through others ideas and explanations.

Being a relatively new comer myself your idea does hold promise... but how much more work would it place on our beloved site admin E.E.? Also there is the forum search option that works in much the same way, but you may need to read through pages of posts before you find what you need. If it can be done without driving our site admin over the edge I'm all for it. 8)

Even something as simple as how to tighten the set screws in the pulpit railings is important information that should be shared.

There are no silly questions or solutions, since we will all have to do those things sooner or later.

Nice idea if someone wants to take on the editing responsibility.

Might be a doable. We'd need to limit it to very specific items or procedures tho.

But things like "Mast Stepping Step by Step" would be good to go in that sort of folder.

I'll give it test run this weekend when I have time to fix any thing I screw up.

Oh, and don't worry about the site admin, he went over the edge many watches ago !!

You could set up the sub forum with 1 or 2 moderators, they would be able to edit and delete posts. This way you would have some assistance in keeping it clean. I would be more than happy to help you set this up if you need.

Thanks Trev. Once setup it shouldn't be anything to maintain.
