Mario must be having a great sail right about now, the weather in this neck of the woods is great, but there is a price to pay if you have allergies... all the yellow you see in the cockpit is pollen. The hatch boards were in sad shape, but with a good scrubbing with Olympic Deck Brightener, they came back nicely. Will use #46 Gold Teak Oil on them in a day or two, hopefully they will look good as new.

Somehow my boat ended up with 5 boards instead of 4. A couple of the boards are pretty narrow. They don't look like they are split off from other boards because every one is beveled correctly to fit together. Five boards seemed like too much to keep track of so I'm in the process of making an entry similar to Sail Bob's.
My C-22 has 3 boards. The top one must have split lengthwise several owners ago. The patched it up from the back side but the split still bugs me.
I'm remaking the hatch boards, I'm about 1/2 way done as of a month ago and have not gone back to the project. I need to take them to my dad's for a more complete selection of tools for the job. I will post it when I'm done. All mad from PVC white lumber. I think it will be really nice or really bad, we shall see.
My daughter redid the hatch boards for me last week.
Sanded them with #320 and them applied teak oil.
The out sides will need another application, but it was a vast improvement!
Picked up the teak oil at Menards for about $6 less that at a marine supply.

I don't suppose anyone has good ideas on how to seal the top hatch board with the hatch cover so that mosquitos and such can't come into the cabin???
Adam go to Lowes and get pipe insolation (ours is gray) cut to langth to fit on the top hatch board. It works great to keep water and cold air out also.
the hatch boards look great, the pipe insulation is such a great idea, i never thought of it, my problem is dust. where i dock there is an old asphalt gravel drive that just kicks up the dirt and dust when the wind blows just right. another idea i had was to remake one or two of the hatch board with a built in screen or a quick connect plug and fan for overnighters. maybe ill get to it this year. i'll keep you posted. right now im working on installing new basement windows..
