Lonestar 13 stability

Good Morning! I am very much a rookie sailer, and have only had my LS 13 out a few times. I know that it is a matter of when, not if, regarding spilling the boat over, but I really don't want to do that! I usually have fishing gear, trolling motors, etc., and really don't want to go over!
It seems as if the LS 13 might want to tip faily easily. Is there a way to add more stability, and more comfort for me? I have thought about putting some weight lifting weights along the floor of the boat. I don't know if that would help, or just lug it down a bunch.
Suggestions welcome! I know that I am a wimp when it comes to this, and I can live with that! I enjoy my boat for fishing as much as for sailing.
Thanks!
Steve
