Snowing ? Again ?

Post by EmergencyExit »

Again ? It was Dec 11, 2008 when I was posting my amazement that my yard was covered in a rare several inches of snow...Tonight nearly exactly a year later I'm watching it happen again. Whhhhaaaaatt??? I do still live a couple hours from the Gulf of Mexico, right ?

Ah, Seattle today, sunny, high maybe 50 and low maybe 30, fog in the mornings. Rain is on it's way and hopfully warmer night time temps.

I know, but I grew up in Fl on the Gulf, so I like to think that should put my "real" location pretty close to you. Stay warm!

I think all of you have what is usually our weather in Minnesota. We haven't really had any snow yet and the temperatures are just starting to drop down to our "normal" December 20 something degrees. That will change soon - looks like snow is on the way this weekend, but for now...it's all yours... 8)

Jay, Florida, I gotcha..is 26 here at 6AM, looks like only an inch maybe two out there in the dark. So today's EE project will be going over and shoveling her off :?

Last time this happened and I left the snow to melt she got soaking wet under the cockpit, and the bilge overflowed onto the sole carpet.

guyaks,

Dang did not notice you were from Melbourne, I grew up in the area, first in Sebastian then EauGallie across from Ballard park. I have been looking for a good launch ramp down there for a trip. We lived on the water back when I was a kid and I never really saw any ramps though I know Ballard park had one but I don't remember if it was suitable to launch a sailboat from? I would really like to find one a little farther south.

i do miss the smell at low tide..it kind of grows on you after a while;)

Banshi, Ask Guy if Sebastian state park is still a good ramp, I heard they redid it. I'm told it may be the best ramp on the east coast.

Sebastian state park

Post by guyaks »

Hello Guys,

This is my first trailerable sailboat. so i am not sure which ramp is good or not. i do like sebastian inlet, i have pulled a pontoon boat in the shallows, and just relaxed on the sand bars.

I hope by Feb - March, the Chrysler 22 will be in the water...and i will let you know which one i scrap freshly painted keel on....lol

thanks for all your good info

Dang!

No snow here, but the temp tonight is forecast to go down to like -2 with some winds also... bitter nippy! Been cold for a week and I was inside my C-22 the other day... seems I forgot to drain the water from around my though hull depth transducer in the cubby by the keel bolts. I was too late an it was frozen solid. I'll have to wait 'till I can move the trailer closer to the shop and put a light bulb in to thaw it out...

Billy, the redhead (who grew up in your part of the world) sent me out there with my camera. Said it was too cold, and having seen plenty of snow before would prefer some nice pics.

It looks like you have a system coming on the coast so it may not be Harley
weather for a while but your winters are easier than the northeast. How is
the water around Everett as far as Destiny? I hope not frozen.

Not frozen yet.
We moved her on Sunday from temp marina to her normal home. They refloated all our docks. They were getting pretty sad. Alan here helped in the move along with the lifting of Lady Jo!

The weather coming does not have moisture in it yet so, so far, so good!
If there is no frost in the morning I'll be riding again. However in the afternoon I may have to go home early. We'll see!
