What do you use to reef your mainsail?
I saw these at west marine. What do you think?

I think that is the simplest way to go....then all you need is to punch grommets in to the sail..
Curious, how far up from the foot of the sail do you put in your first reef? the second reef?
the other system I have seen is with a line in the sail running through blocks on the boom back to the cockpit... makes reefing a snap for singlehandling from the cockpit....but you have a line in your sail..
also I have seen two or three lines already dangling from the reef points in the sail and you drop a bit an then tie them up around the boom.
my old J-30 was rigged to reef easily and quickly with one line on the boom form the cockpit...

I have only seen the reefing hooks used on the grommet on the luff side of the sail.

I second Pete,
They're only for the tack of the sail, and either a jiffy reefing system or just a piece of line left in the grommet for the clew.
also check here for full jiffy reefing system info.
