Do any of you use this? I am thinking of making one cuz I can't find one anywhere...

When I reef I get a bunched up mainsail that I have to raise the boom to trim, and I have to move a couple sail slugs around the gate to accomadate the change... or am I just doing it all wrong???

Post a pict if you have one :)

Thanks again,
Billy

Check this site out.

Pretty good drawing of getting the first reef down to your boom.
Just a thought . . . .

I made one..........

Originally I believe they used some sort of pin to keep the slugs from falling out while the sail was not raised

Thanks again,

Capt. Scott, that is what I have now basically, maybe I wasn't clear an I'll check it again here soon,,, But was thinking of a closure in the gate itself like Banshi made.

I have been pulling the sail stop above the gate , raise the boom above the gate, w/o dropping the boom or slugs out, put the sail slug stop back in, then set the reef.

My only reef point is 4ft from the boom at full sail, with the boom 16" below the gate, and the reef cringle 28" above the 4" wide gate, make sense??

So if I don't raise the boom above the gate I have a lot of "dead" space between the boom and my reef cringle, thus a big, ugly, burbly, foot on my reefed mainsail and it is a pain to set...

I was thinkin with Banshi's device the slugs and boom could travel where ever they want when I reef,,, but again maybe I just don't know what I'm doing,,, that would be a first!

:D

Sounds like you have it figured out!
I'd copy Banshi's set up!
