Thanks Lecker68. Picking up the boat tomorrow. Pictures a plenty soon to follow.
Seller thinks I need a 5" drop for my hitch, Dodge Ram 1500. Does that make good sense? Currrenty I have a 2" drop.
Thanks

Brought her home.
Need a new tiller, currently appears to be a post hole digger handle. Where might I find one of those???
I also desperately need a service manual for this Sailor 250. Looks like something is missing on the right side of the engine. Need wiring diagrams.
More pictures here.

West Marine has tillers, But let us get you sailing first. I have the service manual, an a 10 HP Sailor 250 with all the remote set up. You are missing a Rectifier, it is about 1 inch by one inch it is black an about 1/2 inch thick with 4 wires going to it. Part number 617450 ( CODI ) The Ignition Switch, shown sitting on top of your engine, goes in the remote sifter. In your photo of the boat, you show the back side of a shifter, may be you can use the cables from the shifter that came with motor on the shifter that is in the boat. Vary nice looking boat, bottom pant looks good, wax an a buff will give you a nice shin. I use tape for the strip, I think you got a lot for the money, vary nice boat. I an trying to post some photos

I did a complete lower unit rebuild on my Sailor 280 (same lower unit as 250) seals, bearing shift throw out thingy. Not a hard job just take your time. Make sure you check the little needle roller bearing that is up high in the lower unit, just under the water pump. If the motor was ran without the lower unit being fill of oil, that bearing would get dry and score your drive shaft.
I think the services manuals are in this site some were.
A wheel barrel handle works for a tiller until you have time to round up one or make one.
