250 sailor outboard

Post by trev »

I have a 250 sailor 9.9 outboard that came with my 22 but it does not run. The PO had the impeller go out and overheated the motor.

Here's my question, I found a Chrysler 7.5HP motor that runs good but the lower unit is shot, my lower unit is good. Does anyone know if the good motor would bolt up to my lower unit?

Thanks.

Here's what I believe is the best Chrysler outboard advice you can get - Send an email for input to Franz Buddenberg at franzmarine@aol.com. Man knows his Chryslers.

Do you need an outboard with a long gear case for these sailboats?

If you are mounting to the original transom tray, yes. 25" shaft on the Sailor 280 puts my prop under the water several inches.

The 20" shaft on my little merc gets the prop under water, but will kick out in any thing but flat water.
