Winter tarperizing.

Post by parared »

Hi all!

I had a quick question. I'm overwintering my C22 on a trailer in my driveway, here in Rhode Island. Would you suggest I cover it with a tarp? Or leave it exposed? Does it matter? We can expect some snow several times over the winter.

Thanks,
Chris

I do not tarp up my boats however they do get quite dirty. An amazing amount of crap seems to be attracted to the hull!

Plan on a thorough spring cleaning if not tarped.

We cover her with tarp. It makes the spring clean up easier. Just make sure the bow is up so the cock pit drains if anything gets under the tarp.

I step my mast and cover my C-26 with a huge tarp. The important thing is to make sure you have it tied down well so air can not get under it. The tarps make great sails and if not pulled down well can beat the boat up pretty well in a nice winter windstorm
