Fall Sailing

Hi, Sailers it my be 40 or 50 hear in Michigan. But I am out there sailing my C-20 all most every day. The only time I put the keel down is when I but the boat on the trailer. It workes as a gied keeping the stren in line. So I can sail in only 2' of water, an close to shore. The Fall Colors are great. The only thing that will stop me from sailing is ice. For you southern sailers, that is when the lake frezses over. If I lived where the lake did not freze over I would sail all year.

Yes, fall sailing in the Seattle area is indeed some of the best also. The wind actually blows!

Had 8-15's Sunday on the lake, actually pretty steady for a change except near the points on the oxbow where it got swirly - had a great time heeled over beating straight up the lake for a while, most of the rest of the time it was a good reach down the lake.

Also had others with a Flying Scot, a Daysailor, a Mac25, and an unknown 22' out.

Nice, single handed the whole day.

As I drove past the nearby lake this morning I wished I had not started repairing my boat. With the speed boats, PWCs, and skiiers off the lake I'd have it all to myself.

Just cut off the trunk cap and support members Sunday night to start repairs.

The only thing that will keep me from saling is lack of water in the lake.

We got some rain last weekend over 1 inch first rain since late Feb. Lake is down now 232 feet from top

We were out on Saturday. Winds were surprsing light for October but it made for a nice lesurly afternoon. Hubby even took a nap! I also appreciate the absence of the power boats which are a real problem where we sail. I'll never undersatnd why they always choose to cross our bow, often bringing us to a dead stop, when they could just as easily take the stern.

One more weekend left before the launch service at our marina ends,

I am still in the water..hope to be sailing this wknd...I agree... October early Nov is best for LI sound....sail up tot he CT coast and get great fall fol;iage... unreal

I have been sailing as much as I can. Leave changing looks great. When they are gone then we tend to get a little more wind on the lake. Our lake is not down more then 5 feet, so I do not have a drat problem. The best thing however is the absence of power boaters and an empty dock.

This time last year I was sanding and painting awlgrip on my boat in a Store ALL . This year is much much better.

Putting the AC away? Sheesh I commute on a motorcycle.
Today was about 41 degrees when I came in! ( wee hours in the morning )

Sheesh, what I'd give to commute in 70 degree weather for more than a couple of months!

Yeah, but some of my wee hour commutes are at 78 degrees in August !

The transplanted northwestener doesn't like those !

Yes, I guess you are correct!
39 degrees this morning!
I can barely sleep when it is above about 64 in our bedroom!

I'd have to swap all my heated gear for cooling gear! LOL!

For those that sail in cold weather, I have a Gerbing heated jacket liner for riding. It works well on my boat too! On the larger boat I have added a 12v outlet so I can be at the helm in very cold weather and still be reasonably comfortable!

No I do not get wet so there are no issues there!
