on the cockpit floor, starboard side, next to the daggerboard trunk is a small, stainless, wirelike fitting on a sort of hinge arrangement. what exactly is this for? appreciate the help. bt[/b]

Welcome aboard. Is there a pic you could post, or email to me for posting ? If it isn't a "stock" item a fellow pirateer owner would know, that might help someone identify it.

Not sure... I didn't quite understand the description, but based on the location I'd guess a cockpit bailer? (Is it a through-hull-thing?)... if it's just an attachment fitting anchored to the floor, perhaps an attachment point for a safety line to avoid losing the daggerboard when you turtle?

I have the same thing on my Pirateer 13. This device drains the floor of the boat. Mine leaks a bit.
