Chrysler 22 Keel Cable

Post by DejaVu »

I purchased a Chrysler 22 last summer. We had a great time on her . My biggest concern is that the Keel Winch Cable is a Nylon line. I’m not feeling warm and fuzzy with this set-up.

Do you think that I should change it out to a cable? If so, does anyone know the correct size? 3/16” or 1/4”?

I suggest you change the cable to stainless steel ASAP if the cable breaks while the keel is up there would likely be damage possibly holing the hull. This happened to to someone in a c26 who managed to get the boat to the beach before completely sinking. Check the documents page if you want to know what was originally specked . I use a 1/4 in cable but I believe it was originally 3/16.
