Missing mast on my 18’

Post by Tbrown1091 »

I just got myself a buccaneer in pretty great condition for next to nothing. This is my first time owning a sailboat, so I’m entirely new to it all. This wonderfully cheap investment is missing its mast and in the bit of research I did, I can find nothing. Any tips on tracking one down? Or maybe modding a hobie mast? Looking for any general direction here, thanks all!!

Do you have sails? Find out how long the mast is supposed to be, then look at the online boat wrecking yards for something similar sails to match. A mast is a mast, they are not that hard to make work. Look at your turnbuckle and also look for something that will mate up to it or they make stepping turnbuckles you can use with any mast. I would look for a boat about the same size with a good mast and boom with sails. Maybe something that got ruined (You know hole in the side or something.)
