First sail!

Post by Kenr74 »

After a ridiculous amount of time, I finally launched my C26 today. Last week a friend and I welded some rollers onto the trailer. I was very concerned about being able to launch and retrieve it, but it all worked very well. She came off without having to get the truck too deep, and the rollers kept the keel perfectly centered on the 4x4 base I copied from this site.
I love the roller furling, but it made pinning the forestay nearly impossible. Is there a secret here? First the stay wanted to keep getting lost in the furler, then when I solved that, it was terribly hard to pin it. Would any kind of snap shackle hold the required load? It seems that something other than a pin is the way to go.
I only flew the jib, but even at that I was impressed with how well she sails. I really love this boat. I can't wait to spend some more time on her.
