C22 forehatch screen
C22 forehatch screen
I looked around in the documents section and searched the forums, but can't find anything. Does anyone have measurements or plans for a forehatch screen for the C22? I'd like to build one before we get it out of storage this spring.

Velcro'd screen..they are using a bought screen, but I see no reason a piece of screen cut to size from bulk won't work. I bought a big sheet of no-see-um screen from Amazon a while back. Ok a long time back..

Just think,
A local technology group has designed a new anti mosquito device that uses imaging and lasers to kill mosquitos! They are capable of killing 10 per second assuming the little buggers are in the zone.
Now THAT would be cool!

A PO of Happy Place used snaps on the corners and a couple between that replaced the rivets that hold the frame in place. Then sewed screen to webbing and attached the other snaps to that.
Sorry no measurements she's still in winter storage.
Nice thing about snaps is they don't snag on stuff while in storage.

The previous owner of my C22 made a really nice triangular shaped (from the side view) cover with screen on three sides. This covers the entire hatch lid, and when the hatch is open, the three open sides are screened. It has weighted edges on all four sides, so no snaps, ties, or zippers are needed. You can close the hatch with it in place, or pull it off from inside the boat and store it. It looks like anyone with a sewing machine could make it. The top panel that covers the hatch lid is solid Sunbrella material.

I can't get to it to measure it, but simply measuring your hatch in the open position will give you all the information you need. I've attached the only picture I have of it currently. This is a photo of my friend Rich taken on our Outer Banks sailing trip. You can zoom in and see the screen on the hatch.
The big white yacht to the left belongs to Howard Stern. We were the smallest boat with someone sleeping on it in the whole marina! Sort of gives you feelings of insecurity...
