Anchor Locker retrofit

Post by shaunsanders »

Hi All,
I have a Starwind 22 and I want to fit an anchor locker in the deck at the bow. I am hoping there might be a ready made all-in-one kind of thingy with deck hatch included. Has anyone got any ideas where I might start looking?
If not, I guess I'll have to modify a bucket or something:)
Thanks,
Shaun

I haven't run across one ready made, but when I was considered a foredeck hatch for the Cal21 I had bookmarked this page with an example..

I can try and snap some photos, my 1983 Starwind22 has a factory anchor locker in the bow. It is however very small...

Deck chain

Post by shaunsanders »

Thanks Smier, but I have gone ahead and fitted a chain pipe through the deck, and installed a pipe so the rode and chain can slide down underneath the forward berth. I'm still trying to get the kinks out, but it will probably work OK.
It is interesting to know that there might be anchor lockers out there though. By the sound of it, they might not fit 120' of rode plus 30' of chain that I have.
I'll post about my project when it's working Aok.
