DOCUMENTATION ONLINE AGAIN!
New Documents page:
Hi Guys,
After various options of compressing, zipping, etc of our documents I found that if I compressed we lose resolution. No big deal for text but some of the photos are bad enough to figure out but with added loss of resolution they became downright ugly.
So, I have decided to host all the documents on my "CaptainScottSailing.com" web page.
Here I can offer up all the docs with the full resolution that I have received them in. No compression! Some of the files are huge!
Next, I am lazy so I needed a way to display docs without having to maintain a dynamic web page on a regular basis. So what I have done is create a directory structure on the disk. The php page scans the directory on disk and uses the directory name as a header. Then it gets a list of each file in that directory, sorts it, and displays it as a link you can download the file from! All this means is when I get a new document, I FTP it to the server in the proper directory, and it is immediatly available to everyone! No code changes, no page changes, NOTHING! Yeah!
The whole concept is pretty basic and simple and VERY EASY to maintain.
I will update our main page here to reflect the new location for documents later tonight. For now, I have added a "Documents" link to my signature in my posts where you can get to the files. Also the link is at the top of this post.
Thanks for everyone who has graciously donated documents to our forum!
If anyone finds any missing documents, has more documents or finds a broken link, let me know!
Scott

Absolutely! I'd love to get a good scan of the document and post it for everyone!Padiunka wrote:Thats pretty slick there Captain, nice work. I have a full c27 owners manual. If I find access to a scanner, is this something you would like to host on the doc site?
Someone here was able to scan and create a PDF out of documents but I can not remember who. If they don't speak up and if you are willing I can scan the docs myself however a more experienced scanner might do a better job than me! LOL!
Thank you for the offer and again, YES! I'd love a copy!

I talked with my Girl last night (first mate). She said she should be able to do it at work. I will get her the info this weekend and I should be able to get it to you shortly.
Thanks for the offers to scan Trev, if she cant come through I will take you up on your offer. I am all about gewtting the info out there so everyone has access.
So Capt, .pdf works best?

PDF is my preference only because all the pages are kept together! However I will take anything I can get just to share the knowledge!
Again, many thanks to you in advance for providing the info! I may never use it but SOMEONE will!
Funny, I remember trev providing the Chrysler outboard documents! I thought I'd never use those! LOL! Now I have a very clean Chrysler outboard I need to make run! Those docs will come in handy!
Thanks Trev!
When it comes to documents I tend to hoard!
Anyone else have a doc that is not on our site I'm happy to share with all if you are willing to get me copies!
I'll take anything Chrysler related! Notice we have many manuals, drawings, ads, and even a document on the toilets Chrysler used! LOL!
Thanks!
