Need Good Information

Post by KGeist »

I've heard it said that the Chrysler 22 is the same Hull design as the 22 ft

Starwind? I've recently read that the beam on the starwind is 8'6" where

on the Chrysler it's 8' or slightly under? Does anyone have any answers

to these descrepancies whether or not its the same hull or just bad

information on the beam span ???

Sorry if I repeat something you've already seen/heard-

As I understand it, when Chrysler sold the marine divisions off ca. 1980, the sailboat molds went to Texas Marine (TMI), and after that the 20-27' molds went to a Wellcraft Marine division called Starwind.

I've only ever seen the Starwind 22 specs here and list the beam at 7'9":

http://www.starwinds.com/stw220.html

If you haven't run across it yet, there's also a lot of Starwind info at:

http://www.starwinds.com/phpbb/index.php

Oddly enough, I'll be helping begin to raise a Wellcraft/Starwind that sank during a storm at our club tomorrow !

I'm still researching but it seems that starwind's early 22 was the same as the Chrysler 22 but later in the 80's they came out with the starwind 223 which seems to be a different hull. I'm still researching and learning thanks for any input or info.

Thanks
