Veterans Day

Post by Chrysler20%26 »

Thank you for all that have served. It was August 1965 I quit school joined the Navy see the world they said. After boot camp in California I was flown to Japan where I met up with of APA 32 US S Calvert and off to Vietnam I went. I think it was around March when we sailed back to San Francisco where they decommissioned the ship. They took all the deckhands and set them to the Seabees. That's where I became a steelworker and made two more tours to Vietnam with them MCB 58. In August 1968 I signed up for the ironworkers local 25 in Detroit Michigan. At the time if your daddy and his daddy were ironworkers you were going to be one either. But they were taken in Vietnam that's so lucky me. It took three months for them to finally call me to start my apprenticeship. Ironwork is a rough job but boy is it nice to be retired from. Thank you veterans for your service
