getting ready

Post by lecker68 »

The temps were 58 yesterday and 69 today got the boat out of the back yard to start cleaning and get ready for the water. when I get her to the park she will sit on the trailer for a couple days while I make the boom kicker. Sitting on the trailer will get the crew from the village here to get the docks in I hope.

O K ya got me, what is a boom kicker. Reading that sad story about the guy tha has to move his boat from a boat storage yard. Man that would be hard to take, how lucky I am to be able to keep 3 sailboats hear at my home. My C-26 in my drive way, with a yard lite shining over it looks good even with a haff inch of new snow on it.

A boom kicker is used in place of a topping lift in my case I am going to be flying an S2 main sail on my C-26 it will give some extra sail area with the extra on the luff and the foot along with the large roach on the sail it sails well with it but with the topping lift the roach hits the topping lift and that is the reason I am going to a boom kicker along with the vang.

So, to expand the question; how are you going to make it?

Similar to a spring loaded curtain rod and SS plates on each side of the boom and a modified rudder gudgeon and pintle and the vang will pull it down.
