Weekly Weigh-In

Have something you want to talk about that's not sailing oriented? Here's the place. But remember, keep discussions civil, no flaming, be respectful of others, and no profanity.

Weekly Weigh-In

Postby LeatherneckPA » Fri Nov 26, 2010 10:13 am

I bet I'm not alone in wishing I was leaner than I am. I invite anybody who wishes to join me in a type of support group here by posting your own weekly weigh-in. My personal preference will be to post on Sunday morning, but you go ahead and post when it's convenient for you. Below are my first two weigh-ins.

November 10, 2010 - The Marine Corps birthday. I stepped on the scale and pretty near fell over. I had reached the highest weight I'd ever seen, 396.4 lbs. This was completely unsatisfactory!! I had known things weren't getting any better because of how easily I get winded doing tasks around the house. I have noticed being really out of breath after climbing two flights of stairs at the school. Heck, I was even huffing after climbing the single flight in my house.

November 26, 2010 - The morning after Thanksgiving, probably not the smartest time to weigh-in. But the result was satisfying, 385.2. I've lost a little over 11 pounds in two weeks, and that's without any exercise. Today I start an exercise program. I found the Zero to Sixty in Twelve Weeks program on the internet and will be starting that.

@Mike - great work I stumbled on this thread randomly but it's great that you are losing weight. Hope everything is going well. I also struggle with weight problems. Another New Years resolution in about two weeks

Holidays and winter got in the way. Stress of college triggered my "stress eating" response and before you know it I was right back up at 396.

But this time is different! Cindy and I joined a local Weight Watcher's meeting. We both enjoy it. For her, I think it's the online weight and food tracking tools. For me it's the accountability of knowing I have to weigh-in each week, plus the social environment. I'm normally talkative and social anyway, so this is a great group for me. I can really see this as a viable weight loss method and a way to stay there once I reach my goal.

Anyway, last night we both weighed-in and we both lost exactly the same amount this week, 3.4 lbs. Here's my track so far:

6/8/11 - 381.4 down 3.4
6/1/11 - 384.8 down 6.4
5/25/11 - 391.2 Ooops, up 3.4
5/18/11 - 387.8 WW starting weight
5/11/11 - 396.4 my scale at home

I encourage anybody who is interested to join me for Wednesday weigh-ins.
