New Forum Topics

QUESTION FOR THE FORUM MEMBERS

OK, one of my minor gripes about forums is trying to find specific information about a specific propblem. Now I'm a computer geek so searching and hunting is not hard for me at all however when I wanted to buy a new gooseneck and toggle for my C22 I struggled to find my own stinking post with the part number! LOL!

So,

I was thinking about starting some new forum topics. The idea is to drive specific conversations about specific problems all to one area.

For example: Maybe a topic called "Rudders". All conversations related to rudders would go there. That way when I rebuild mine, I can go to that topic and hopefully find only conversations related to rudders, repairs, ideas, parts, etc.

So lets here it. Are we OK as is? Or . . . . . is there a need for a technical type discussion layout? If you like the new topics idea, what new topics?

I'm thinking,

Rigging
Rudder
Keel
Electrical
Trailers
Outboards

So , what are your thoughts?

Thanks!
Scott

I like the idea. I was also thinking it might be nice to have an area for "resources", a vendors list, with comments from users might be helpful.

I kind of like this vendor list idea. Like Angie's List.

This would help with Sail Vendors, parts vendors, etc.

Product endorsements, may be getting into a lee shore here but I love the product endorsements I've gotten on this forum. From LED lights, to proper propeller pitch for my boat.

Thanks
Alan

Easily done as sub forums under the main "General Discussion" area too !

And then when searching you could limit the search to one of those subforums..

Anything that would help consolidate the information on this forum... especially for those of us who are over our heads in restoration would be seen as a leg up. 8)

I spend time on a Dodge truck forum that has the main parts/ systems of the truck listed individualy. It is similar to what Scott has suggested. In each topic there are stickys that go in depth to members projects. You can check it out here. www1stgen.org

I like both Ideas as I have done the same as Scott trying to find my own post to direct someone to it and after 769 posts now 770 it takes quite some time.

How about a section for the day sailers, Musketeer, Buccaneer, Mutineer, Man O' war, Pirateer, Dagger.
I have noticed more posts from them lately, and it must be a pain to search through all the bigger boat stuff to find info on their day sailers.

Great Idea!

Finding info can be difficult here. I would add paint and fiberglass to the list also...

All righty then - choose your area and post away. They are in alpha order, and we'll add more later as they come up, and begin a process of moving existing posts to a new topic area as much as possible when possible..

Add Saloon/Cabin/Comfort to the list of categories - finding a lot of topics in that area of discussion.
