Lesson #???: To mother nature a tall boat tarp is just a........sail. Rethinking the whole tarp thing now . After 4 hrs. work, 45-50MPH winds just blew the whole dang tarp/wood and 1" PCV frame structure I was so proud of down. I heard a bang out by the garage, it was my mast crashing down onto the boat railing:( No harm done as far as I can see right now. I may just tarp off the hatch cover area and squirt silicon sealant around all the deck hardware for the winter, then be done with it. After 33 years one exposed winter probably isn't going to set things too far back. Next year I'll have her more pimped out and will search for free or affordable indoor storage.

Getting ready to tarp mine up for the winter. she spent 20 years in the open and seams to have done fine, so im hoping keeping her covered up should make her easier to clean up for next year. I'm planning on using the mast as a ridge board.

We're keeping ours in a farmers machine shed. He keeps a # of boats and campers in there for the winter. He charges $35/month. So basically$180-210 for the off season. Maybe you could find something like that around there. But I think your right for one season probably won't hurt too much.

That was a pretty nice set up.
To bad mother nature decided to play with it.

We have our first serious blow coming here tomorrow. We should be ok since I have not tarped up a thing! LOL!

That is what happened to me last year I had it covered the same as the year prior and the wind was hitting from the stern and when it tore the grommets out it became a 26' tube sail and exploded so new tarp this year.
