While not quite a boat in a basement, it reminds me of a story has. When he was younger, he built a 13 foot speedboat in his parents basement. The pieces to build it went into the basement down the staircase... but when it was time to launch it, it was too big to come back out (obviously you can see where the story goes). He and his father took out part of the concrete wall to get it out. I went to his parents house once and saw the wall section that was taken out and replaced and the pics. He just keeps doing crazier stuff since then!

Ha, ha! Me and my three sons have taken over the basement and my wife is afraid to come downstairs anymore. So the extent of the boat mess is unseen
