Copacetic has a keelboard

I finally designed, built and installed a keelboard for our trailer. This has been a spring of trailer work.

We lowered the trailer about 4", put in all new bearings and brake shoes, new tires, and even painted the wheels. Over the summer while she's in the water we'll paint the trailer and put on all the proper lights.

Oh yeah, we've done a few things to Copacetic too. Hopefully we'll put her in the water Sunday.

Before the boat was fully supported by the pads, no keel support at all. Last year I upgraded the pads and this year I finally figured out how I wanted to do the keel board.

The trailer is a simple angle iron and mobile home axle setup with the cradle (factory I was told) bolted to it. All in all, it is pretty beefy. In the picture above you can just see the piece of cut out cradle that was then lowered and welded back in to give lateral support while letting the boat slide off.
