Yep I'm sick of snow and ice and we have nothing compared to you guys. The forecast calls for Sunday to be 50 with the balance of the week in the 40's so hopefully spring is on the way.

I wish too! With Lake Michigan keeping us warm, it's 19 degrees for a high today and headed south. Great googly-moogly!

I can relate! The high yesterday and today is 3
But the weather guy says this may be the last of the cold stuff for this winter, but we still have March which is our snowest month yet to come.

It's even cold down here in south Texas, I call it a 30-30 day. 30 degrees and a 30K wind, no work on the boat today.

I think I finally got the Pics now need a better camera but my dog keeps going to the trailer and jumps for the ladder but can't make it so he will jump up on the trailer and smell the boat only on warm days like today was a 10 - 20 day and he came back in right away after his nature call.

Lyle, you and your sailin' buddy could run away from home for a couple weeks and come down here and help me do a bottom job on "Sally Ann", that is if the weather ever get back up to normal. Really cold tonight.

nice pics...

I was curious.. I will be sailing with a small dag this summer... do you have a life vest? A tether? is the dog in the cockpit? on the rail? goes below and sleeps? don't feed the dog before a outing... seasick?

any tips on sailing ( or setting up the chrysler for our fourlegged firstmates) with a dog would be appreciated?

Yes any time he is in the boat or dinghy he has his boat coat on and he is small and the flotation has a handle on his back so you can reach down and pick him up by hand or boat hook I don't really like a tether as a line could get wrapper and hang him. He is in the cockpit with me and sometimes he goes to the bow but not often unless I go and he will be with me. he will lay down on the seat or floor if he gets tired he goes below and jumps up on the setee and goes to sleep if Kevin (my friend w/ the Bristol 26 is out his dog Theo and Buddy watch each other and when we get into the dock or raft up the 2 dogs run and go from boat to boat.

thanks...

sounds like fun.... Iworry about hydration and the sun, but sounds like no seasickness... my guy wants to be with me ALL the time no matter what so I think he is very eager to go sailin' w/me this season as he watches me do all this work on the boat ( I think he thinks I am fixing up the boat for HIM! )

I have the life vest with a handle, which is available in many sizes..

As for the dog not eating or drinking it could be anxiety. Our dog was like that and we got him some calming treats at the local pet smart..

as for sea sickness..my Llewellin Setter hunting dog get car sick, and the vet said that 1/2 of a dramamine will work and it did..

The key is onli 1/2 of a tablet !!

There are signs as the river is starting to thaw in the channel but if temps keep going to 4 it may refreeze.

Two weeks ago when we finally had a real thaw, the lake outside the break wall was liquid. There was still ice offshore to the west of town maybe 300 yards out, looking out on the lake, pretty blue green.
I went down to check on the Cat25, to open her up and remove the undersized outboard bracket. The lake had frozen again as far as the eye can see, a few pools of liquid but the vast majority was ice again.
I'm trying not to think about warmer weather, trying.

Lake Michigan is open blue-green up here in the Muskegon-Milwaukee latitudes. A little pack ice flowing by off and on. Muskegon Lake opening up gradually, ice fishermen are moving back more and more to the bays as the main part of the lake is becoming wetter.

Hope springs eternal!

Mario I wish I had those cold days of 70. We are supposed to get close to 50 today and tomorrow then back to the cold but with over 12" of snow on the ground we will have some flooding.

Yeah Mario, our northern hearts are breaking for you! :)

Hey Lyle, I have a buddy from Rochester that just bought two snowmobiles a few weeks ago. He's wishing for MORE snow in the worst kind of way, especially in the Tug Hill region. You have some "Think Spring" competition working against you!

Tug hill may get snow if the Lake Ontario is not frozen but I want the warm weather the marina here is looking to get some docks in 1st week of April but that depends on snow on the mountain otherwise flooding will damage them.
