De masting and trailering

Going to get my c26 this weekend and trailer it home. The fellow I bought it from said something about needing something for the mast to set on during transport. This boat has tiller steering so I am not sure what I will need. Any suggestions would be greatly appricated since I will be 150 miles from home. I just built some mast bridles to take with me, I will be glad when the mast is down the first time. Thanks Greg

Like Alan, I saw demasting and thought the worst!

The term "unstepping" the mast will slow our heart rates a bit though! lol!

Alan is spot on with his methods! I was leary of his T when I first saw it but it actually worked just fine!

My C-26 came home (300 miles) with the mast simply lashed to the pulpit and pushpit. Apparently this is how it was done for almost 30 years at beginning and end of season, although shorter trips.

I have since made wooden mast carriers that clamp onto the rails, and added a roller to make moving the mast back for stepping and forward for carrying, much easier.

So I'd say, pad it with some rags, tie it down tight and take her home. Then you can make proper carriers at your leisure.

_ _ masting will not be uttered again by me, my language lesson for this week is unstepping, which I will learn well. Thanks for all the information.
