Sailing in the Keys

Post by gregcrawford »

Hi:

It's been quite awhile since I have been on here. I'm planning on taking Blues Image down to Marathon or somewhere in November, barring hurricanes, and sailing her for a week or so. Weather permitting, I may try to go to the Dry Tortugas.

Has anyone on the forum done any sailing in this area? Have any suggestions/recommendations? Cautions/warnings?

This will be my last big trip with the Chrysler 22, and she will go up for sale after this trip.

Thanks,

I would be interested to hear how your trip goes. I was in the keys for about two months and had a good time. I was not sailing at the time. I too would like to go to the Dry Tortugas. I have a 26 so if your 22 does good I should have no problem. Watch out for the crab pots! I was in the Marathon and Summerland keys, lots of shallow water.

I will certainly follow up once I get back. Thank you for the reply. I did read somewhere online where a C22 has made the trip before.
