Best thing is to go to our documents page and look at the rigging design of the 22. There is a pair of lines on the rudder itself. One to pull the rudder up and the other to pull it down. There is a jam cleat on the tiller handle to hold the line in use. When I replaced these lines on a C22 I used a red and a green line. The red to pull the rudder up, and green to pull it down. No confusion as to which line I wanted to pull. Also adding a small "t" handle on the line makes for easier pulling.

Making a new tiller is easy.

I wrap the lower part in fiberglass and overdrill the holes and fill them with epoxy. It is the last tiller I will need.

I bought a C22 over the weekend. I went to put my outboard on the mount and it looks like the rudder will interfere with the motor when the rudder is raised. Should the motor mount be moved off to one side?

Not necessary.
I've had 4 C22's to date and all had center mounts on the motor.
Typically I ran with rudder down fully all the time. When motoring the motor was locked to keep it from turning and I steer with the tiller/rudder.

Never had an issue.

Captain Scott, do you know where to get the rudder kits for the 22. Someone keeps asking me and I do not know what to tell them.
