How Fast is Your C-22?

Postby T.Bird » Sat Jun 25, 2016 4:00 pm

Kind of a lame question, I know... but this boat has been providing me with my first keel boat sailing experience, and I am curious if we are in the ballpark.

Today we started with a full mainsail and 70% jib. We were able to cruise pretty consistently at 5 knots, occasionally cracking over 6. Later, as the wind picked up, we put in a reef in the main and still managed a pretty consistent 5 knots. We were comfortable onboard and the boat felt pretty balanced, with the exception of the occasional gust that would put us on our ear from time to time.

Does all this seem in line with what some of you veterans are getting out of your 22s? Regardless, it was fun! A great day!

Oops... Should have searched better. Sorry. I just found a thread on hull speed that gave me what I wanted to know.
