Happy and safe New Year to all

Post by hp18carr »

One year is passing and the next is at the door and for many of us this has happened more times than we care to remember. Even so as our hand reaches for the door let it not be in fright of what the New Year may make of us... but in high expectations of what we will make of it.

Hoping a great 2013 for all of you..and I hope we all get our bottoms wet whenever 2013 gives us the smallest chance !

Nice EE!

Today I took the cross off of Lady Jo and unstepped the mast.
I was going to install the mast plate but alas what moisture was on her deck was freezing up! Yikes!

Inside I went!

as the new year came and went I am looking forward to launching my boat in 96 days weather permitting but then who's counting. Until then I will be working on some small projects and watching sailboats on youtube.

Ditto to all from us!

I noticed the other day,,, it was 1630... An it was still light out!!

Ok, it was 7 degrees this morning, reality check there, but more daylight means were heading back to the sunny side : )

Happy New Year

Post by bjaeger »

I am Bruce Jaeger. I just joined the Forum.
I have a neighbor who owns a C-20, and the bottom hasn't been wet for years. I'm thinking of making contact with him again and see if he might sell her to me. Closest sailing water is 85 miles south at Lake Pleseant, AZ. What do you all think? Happy New year all.

If your needs are a for very stable and comfortable all day daysailer, easy to handle w/ super large cockpit big enough for 6 or 7 adults to enjoy, I can't say enough good things about the C20. I loved this boat and hope to find another someday when the time is right.

If your aim is more of an overnighter, you can do it, but make sure you're on very good terms with your crew.

Welcome aboard!Glad to have you here!

The C20 as mentioned is a great stable boat with an abundance of cockpit space! Great Day sailor and even a weekender for some rustic camping!

Thanks for the replies. This sounds like the perfect boat for me. In a nut shell, I crewed on an O'Day Lightning for a summer in 1982 on Green Bay (Green Bay, Wis). I fell in love with sailing but was never able to continue. Now, 30+ yearsw later, I'm retired, but on dry land. There are nice inland lakes within a days drive. I'm now convinced I should at least check into her again.

Thanks for the great article. I really enjoyed reading it.

I spoke to the owner of the C-20 I've been talking about. It is a 1974 C-20 christened "INSTEAD". We had a wonderful conversation, just as we did years ago, and decided to Go Sailing this spring. He has had her in the water at Lake Plesant and Roosevelt Resivoir. Lake Plesant is the better since it is aprox 5 miles wide with the new dam. I'm excited about the prospect!

I know I should find a better thread to talk on, but this is just to much fun. INSTEAD has a full complament of sails; Main, jib, Genowa and Spinaker. The owner has done some woodwork recently. I'll be a good crew for this summer!
