I'm planning on trying my Galaxy S2 with the nav apps Tuesday..using Beer Can Racer, NutiChart, and MxMariner. I'll be well inland so the two nav apps won't be much use except for the tracking features.

On the BCR app I'm interested most in the speed over ground vs speed towards destination feature.

Can't wait to hear how those work out EE. I was just in the AT&T store a couple of hours ago. They have a deal going right now . . . if you get the Samsung tablet (Very nice - I played with it) you get the Galaxy II S Rocket free with it. $479.

I'm in the market . . . Galaxy leading right now. Are you happy with yours?

Cosumer Report ranks it number one. I think I'm sold. Do you have the regular II S or the II S Rocket?

Got the regular S2 - Skyrocket was still pricey, S2 was nearly free, so I can always buy the Skyrocket later and not have wasted any money..

Thanks . . . I'll try those apps when we're back in the water. I went ahead and upgraded my 6 year old Razr Sunday afternoon. I got my first Smartphone in the Galaxy S II Skyrocket. It has a brighter and slightly larger screen. No shut down issue.

As for getting in the water . . . I have the keel trunk leak at two gallons a day that I need to address. I also need to fabricate a new stern assembly for the outboard. The original configuration was good for the Chrysler motors but I really need to get mine out of the water . . . what a drag . . .

i have an orginal galaxy s phone. i have had it for almost two years and it has been a great phone. i have not tried any navigational apps on it yet as i am in the market for upgrading soon. the phone has survived several falls some with a case on and several with out a case. the phone has worked great for me and has been very durable.

Love Google Sky..and the NutiChart looks good altho I haven't really had a chance to use it in a real fashion..

I did use the Beer Can Racer sailing down the lake for a burger and it was interesting to compare ground speed vs speed toward destination..

(off topic for you guitar players, gStrings is a neat droid auto tuner as well)
