A little numbers fun

Post by EmergencyExit »

Being in a numbers mood I did a bit of research and so - of all discussion board signups since inception, and among those who stated what state they where in, which states are the top two in members ?

No counting by digging thru the member list, either, you'll only give yourself a headache like that -

Note it is not our friends in Canada, I will tell you tho they come in at #8 with 22 signups..

WOW!

Hmm, I have no stinking idea so I'm going to guess Washington and New York!!

Why? Well, I live in Washington and know several members here and New York just has so many people! LOL!

Yea MI! I think MI should be given a handicap and placed as #1 since we only have five really 'good' sailing months to talk about. Then again, I've only been on for five months myself this year, maybe by next years count , we won't need the handicap anyway LMAO

N.C. is in the top ten... I can live with that. I felt for sure our sister state S.C. would be higher in the ranking. :?

I think it's pretty cool that we actually have one in Alaska!

Now the question begs, how many of those are active? I usually only see the same 10-20 names in the posts. That's pretty much the norm on my other forums also though.

ETA: Hmm, let's see, we need some criteria. I'd say that to be considered active you'd need to post at least once a month, on average. So I'm at 19 months, and a few more than 19 posts. I have noticed that my postings have become fewer while I've been busy with my masters degree. About to start prepping the 22 for next season though, so that will undoubtedly change soon.

 There was a guy on one forum I belonged to who would go on a posting flurry any time someone passed him as the member with the most posts.

There are a lot of owners MIA. I was going through some posts from 04 05 and saw many names that no longer show up on the forum. Out of all the regular posters, there are only 4 or 5 names we still see. Also looking at the owners list ( 22's and 26's) on the association website there are no names other than Windward that we see here. Where'd everyone go?

I'm pleasantly surprised to have 7 in Colorado - you have to drag them here. I know of one that is for sale. Really nicely kept. We may have to have a Colorado Dining In event!

Wow just 3 more people in Washington and we would move up to number 5.

Say Captain Scott, if everyone you sold one of your Chrysler boats to was on the forum now we would be number 5 on the list.

I think your going to have to make it a condition of sale from now on when you sell a Chrysler sailboat that they join the forum. :P

So do I think there will be additional Chrysler sailboats in our futures and the selling of old ones. YUP!

There is still a C-26 out there somewhere with my name on it, I'm sure. After all I've already got the C-26 T-shirt for it.

Thanks
Alan

The guy needs a life.. 8)

Actually we have a handful of members that go way back to 03 and 05 still around. Clair came on board back in 2005, and did Billy (bhacurly).

HJakl posted last year and has been here longer than me. Same with Wag4513.

Windward predates Windward as 'xjetn' I think. NoRush is a senior citizen that has checked in recently..

BUT overall, yes, most of the members from over the years are MIA..

I think we need to factor the size or the amount of coastline into the calculations. RI with 5 corrected for size would be a good representation.

Well, I'm sure there are some boats that were sold to new members so that will cover at least some!

I know for a fact my first "Lady Jo" previous owners were members here and on Windwards site! They are still listed! When I bought her they pointed me here and pretty much have not come back. Unfortuantely both C22 I have sold neither new owner came here. I most certainly pointed them here but I have not seen or heard from either since. I've searched for "Forplay" when I bought her and found no indication of her here.

Heck! I even found Alans bought before I met him! LOL!

You can knock out 1 of the Va members as I know Frank now owns a Morgan 40

I doubt the person I just heard of that just cut up their c-26 in MI was a member here or they would have known how to fix a leaky keel pin instead.

Now I would be interested in the number of c-13 to c-30 are out there still.
