Mainly, I need help

Postby Paul » Tue Nov 08, 2011 7:41 pm

The bottom portion of the main luff is different than the simple mains I have used. There is a line attached to an eyelet that doesn't seem long enough to use as a down haul. One of the sail slugs is attached to this line, but the slug above and below it are attached to the luff.

I'd appreciate help understanding this and its use.

Is there a chance that this is reef point?

Believe it's called a reef jackline, and it permits the sail to reef smoothly without pinching the cloth and with the new tack pulled all the way down rather than wedged up the track above the other slugs.

The Amazing Jeff is correct again! I googled it and here is the explanation:

So aparently this is not a stock rigging on our C-22's?
