Broken rudder head replacement

Cracked the head. Making new ones out of 2" X 2" aluminum bar stock. Here are pictures of the process so far.

Has anyone tried the rudder head replacement from RUDDERCRAFT?
It raises the tiller connection point, which they say is a good idea.
Anyone tried this? Feedback please?

Sorry, my boat is a 1979 C26, KNOT SURE. Rudder craft claims their rudder head works on 22s as well.
