If it were my personal choice, and I had a 26, I think that I would opt for the 9.9. If/when you are facing a bit of current, the extra 3.9 hp could give you that extra edge. I just put an old (early 80's) Honda 7.5 on my 22. Man that thing is heavy for a 7.5. I worry about the stress it seems to pu...

Regarding the small cord at the top of the mast: could it possibly be a downhaul line that someone tied off to one of the stays when they lowered the mast?

I don't think that the stays need to be coated. In fact, I once happened upon an article that was critical about the use of coating on lifelines and stays because it prevents you from giving them a good inspection, and it also said something about stainless steel faring better when it has exposure t...

I don't want to junk up the board with every little thing, so I'll ask this question here. As previously mentioned, I want to fill the areas under the lifeline stanchions with epoxy and then drill. I hope this isn't too stupid of a question, but is there a space between the cabin liner and the side ...

Those pesky leaking portlights, plus deck hardware bedding

I know these topics have been discussed ad nauseum here, but I am hoping to revisit this briefly if I may. I got the portlights and frames out with no damage. There was some moisture in the honeycomb, but not too bad. I have been letting the core dry out under a tarp for weeks (this applies to the w...

The brackets that I bought from idasailor do not appear to be any thicker than the original, so will probably take the shimming option as well. If they were countersunk, they would be pretty thin.

Question: will the bracket mounting bolt holes have to be counter-sunk on the brackets, or is there enough clearance between the keel and trunk to just drill the holes?

That tape is great stuff. The military uses it for non chafe wrap in wiring harness saddle clamps, as well as many other applications. It can be found here: http://www.rescuetape.com/

The tall rig: longer mast, longer boom, more sail area. Should be better in light winds, but you must reef earlier in a higher breeze. That's my understanding.

How did you like Poli-Glow? I was cautioned not to use it --only as a last resort. I used 3-M marine cleaner and wax with a buffer and man was it a lot of work with not much result.... yeah got a little shiny but did not last... my boat is white and I am debating poliglow or paint it.....any though...

The previous owner of my boat welded a length of steel pipe in, extending the tiller bracket to about 18" above the cockpit floor. It appears that this will improve mobility in the cockpit, but I haven't splashed the boat yet, so we shall see.

I figured I would go ahead and post a pic of the boat. The hull is treated with Poliglow, and you can see the reflections on the side. The white splotches are frost. Temperatures in the teens in Louisiana, go figure. This hard freeze did present an opportunity for me, however. Early in the morning, ...

Hello all from a new member, and new C22 owner

Greetings from NW Louisiana. I already have a profound appreciation for this site. Because of the wealth of information that is here, I was able to purchase the boat with confidence in my ability to assess it's worthiness, as well as the quality of it's design and construction. These factors were im...
