I can now confirm.. my suzuki 4 stroke 9.9 "long shaft" is 20". I have that on a movable OB bracket and if you mount the bracket any lower, the OB won't clear the wate when inthe UP position and also in the DOWN position the motor head is vulnerable to wave action and following seas.....

thanks for the quick reply.... I was thinking Awlgrip, or Perfection but will definately go two part as I was told if you are allready paying a pro then go the extra for the two part paint ( this is how budgets get blown) as it is much harder and will last longer. I figure I paid very little for my ...

UPDATE; this whole project became needlessly complicated and my boat is not yet in the water... I now have a freelancer ( a pro) who will spraypaint the topsides of my boat for fair money... so this is a offer I could not pass up. It will be cheaper he says if I buy the paint... So.. what is the bes...

this is a good thread...

I am about to get my boat paintied and was in a quandry as what to do with the logo... the OEM it is a pretty boring block font.

I was just going to repaint the stripe and say goodbye to the logo ( don't think I would miss it.. )

I have a "long shaft" suzuki and it pops out when the boat hobby horses... and you go even slower than ususal..it seems we need a extra long shaft that really is not readily available anymore. I think it goes 15-18" (short shaft) 20-22" (long shaft) and then 30" ( like a sai...

in short - generally no. as was said earlier .. with proper prep and training .... anything is possible and you may make history and be teh first to sail a c22 to the carib... but this issue is well trodden territory. the general rule of thumb for blue water is 30 feet and fixed keel... there is als...

I was thinking of the same, but a water jug ( to supply the galley) originally went there and I was also thinking of putting the battery under the stairs but if the bilge got above the sole the battery would be the first to be submerged and thus cut out -- the bilge pump! A reliable motor will cost you, unless you catch someone moving from a 2 to four stroke, be careful about craigslist.. people unload lots of junk there and an old poorly maintained 2-stroke might give you real problems. I picked up a like new one year old 9.9 hp suzuki 4-stroke for 900. Be sure and ...
