I like to drop the keel onto the yoke of the trailer, that unloads the cable and the stress of a 800# keel on the winch and bridge deck on your 30+ sailboat as you bounce down the road.

Good for you Bill!
I hope you took the opportunity to say "I told you so" or Just what were you thinking would happen?"
A sailboat can be great platform to learn lessons, an hopefully lessons that they can apply in life.
Just make sure that a PFD is required.

This year you may not need to go south
The ice on St. Croix River over here on the WI/MN border is starting to go out.
Other than that you may want to go at least one state south, just so you don't need to wear you snowmobile suit to out sailing in March.

Good luck!

Also, check to make sure you didn't loose the pin that holds the nylon bushing on the lead edge fo the rudder cheeks that lead the ropes up the rudder tube.
Sometime underwater things just fall off over the summer.

However you may want to hold off on removing the shelf brackets by the companion way, I use these shelf's for all kinds of stuff that need to be convenient to the cockpit while sailing, like camera, air horn, hand bearing compass, suntan lotion, etc.

It's going to depend on the size of your head sail, the larger the head sail the farther back you need to attach the blocks. I know that when flying my working jib (90%) the blocks are mounted two holes in front of the rear lifeline stanchion. You may need to play around with the location until you ...

It's always kind of a sad day when the tarp goes over the boat in the fall, but hopefully when the tarp comes off early next spring, we know that your boat will be ready to sail after all the work you did this season.
