Crawled under mine tonight.
The plastic rod you speak of seems to push the keel to one side, where it then rubs on the fiberglass. Has anyone put anything on the opposite side to even it out and prevent the abrasion caused by the keel?

Did you have any luck?
My mounting brackets have been drilled several times, as has the mast. It looks weak and I'm thinking of having a new set welded to the mast. Then remove the spreaders when trailering. Thoughts?
